My dog gags all the time and his breath is horrible. Any idea why? Could they be related? His breath usually smells like rotten fish! We have tried brushing his teeth and that doesn't help. I have given him things to chew on (rawhide and greenies) and that doesn't help. He gags when he isn't doing anything but sitting still. He has been checked for worms and heartworms. Both were negative. I plan to take him to the vet when I'm off Friday, but was curious if anyone has any ideas in the meantime. I forgot to mention. My dog is a schnauzer/yorkie mix. He's a small boy-about 17 lbs.

does anybody else have a toddler who purposely gags him or herself? My son is 17 months and has recently started gagging himself with his hand. He will do this whenever the mood strikes him. I haven't noticed any association between the gagging and any other behavior or event. He will do this until he vomits if i let him. I tell him no firmly, and guide his hand away. I have smacked his fingers to get him to stop and it usually works for the time being. But later he will do it again. any ideas on why he might do this and how i can stop or prevent this?

My 11 month old is starting to refuse baby food but yet gags on table food...so what should I feed him? I've been noticing that my 11 month old son is starting to refuse his baby food (except for his fruits). He used to finish up his veggies but now eats only half of the container, spits it out or turns his head away. We started feeding him table food and he'll eat it happily at first but after a while he starts gagging on it. We've tried spaghetti, chicken noodle soup, peas, bananas, mac & cheese, chicken, beef, white rice. All of these things he's eaten willingly at first but then always ends up gagging. Also, feeding him table food is a longer process (waiting for him to chew and gum it up) than just feeding him mush, so it seems like he gets fussy cause it takes too long and he's hungry. He loves the Gerber veggie/fruit Puffs, Mum-Mum crackers, biter biscuits, goldfish crackers and bread. What am I supposed to feed him if he's refusing baby food and gagging on table food?

My baby boy will be 8 months in 2 weeks and he gags every time I try to introduce pureed meat into his diet.? I've tried to give him pureed chicken, and beef in different sittings mixed with vegetables, and he gags everytime I feed him meat. Am I trying to introduce/feed him meat too early? Why will my cat not eat or drink and gags when I bring the waterbowl nearby? My cat was recently diagnosed with CHF. He has fluid around his heart and lungs and was on medication. I have taken him to 2 diff. vets. When giving the diuretic he became severely dehydrated and now he is on IV to replenish the fluid and that is now gathering around his h&l. The lasix (diuretic) has taken the fluid from his h&l and now it is in his stomach. He will not eat or drink anything. He is constantly gagging and I told this to both vets which they replied he is nauseated . They have not taken and xray of his head or throat. I am thinking there is something caught in there. I don't want my cat to die of starvation & dehydration and it has been 7 days now. I was giving him eyedroppers of water but he gags and has had two seizures. He was perfectly healthy 1 1/2 weeks ago. He is not an outdoor cat (only during supervision) so I know no one poisoned him. He has owned me now for 10 years and was the most playful of all my boys.
