my six month daughter gags when i try feeding her?

is something wrong with her? like , she wont eat meat , and all of a sudden shes gagging when i give her cerial too.. she hasnt done that before.. what would cause her to gag when i try feeding her solids?

  1. It just means she's not ready for such solids, make them more liquid and stick to whatever she was taking before - formula or breast milk - for now.
  2. If the recommendation is that you only START giving solids at 6mon, I think moving to meat already is really too fast. Rice cereal with some puree fruit and veggies mixed in would be easier for her. Dilute the cereal mixture with a tad bit more breastmilk to make it a thinner consistency that she can slurp off the spoon. Her tonge and throat muscles may not be developed enough to handle thick foods or lumpy textures and you don't want her to choke. My doctor said that all solid food before 1yr is just for practice and socialization and that all nutrition should come from breastmilk (or formula). Don't push the solids if she isn't ready since they arn't nutritionally important. Keep up with nursing for her nutrition.
