Moths .... whats going on with them ?

What is the point of being nocturnal but also (seemingly) afraid of the dark ??? Theory 1 : god created them just for a laugh Theory 2 : Just one of evolutions less successful inventions

1. where butterflies evolved from moths, so they aren't the newest update LOL. i think it's more of a ooh what's that because our "fake" lighting appears different to natural daylight. also moths like spiders like to be in warm areas. where there is light there is heat, supposedly.
2. Actually the reason moths are so "attracted to bright light" is because they use celestial light (moon and stars) as a method or orientation. The bright man made lights confuse them and trigger a response that makes them fly towards it and it completely confuses them as since man made light is stronger than celestial light up close they loose all sense of direction
